1)VAIRAAGYA GNYAANAYOGAIRHI KAIVALYAM LABHATHEY PUMAAN
THADVAIRAAGYAKRAMAM VAKSHYE SHRUNUDHEERA! SUDURLABHAM.
Meaning- Man attains salvation by means of detachment and Gnana Yoga (meditation, self-inquiry and contemplation). O Courageous One, I will tell you the order of the most impossible thing- which is detachment.
2) AGNYAANEEHA NARO MOODHAHA DEHOOHAMITHI MANYATHEY
THASMAADAHAM MAMEYTHEEDDHAM BHRAANTHIMOOLEYSHU VARTHATHEY.
Meaning- A foolish and ignorant man thinks that his physical body is his self. Consequently he behaves under the illusory influence of "I" and "mine".
3) KAAMINEE KAANCHANAMCHAIVA PUTHRAKSHETHRA GRUHAADAYAHA
ADHIKAARAHA PRATHISHTAACHA MAANAVAM BHRAAMAYANTHIHI.
Meaning- Gold, women, sons, home, property, social status, authority and reputation are the cause of man's delusion.
4) ANGASHOBHAA SAMAAKRISHTO YOUVANODRIKTHA MAANASAHA
MOHASANCHANNA VIGNYAANO DEYHARATHYAAM PRAVARTHATHEY.
Meaning- Man who is attracted to the irresistible lustre of a woman's body, who is extremely passionate due to youthful virility, whose wisdom is overshadowed by his desire behaves with attachment towards his physical body.
5) SHAREERAANGA SUVINYAASAAN PASHYANBHRAMATHI PAAMARAHA
MAAMSAASDHIRAKTHA SAMPRUKTHAM GNYAATHVAA GNYAANEENA MUHYATHI.
Meaning- The layman is under the delusion that the curvaceous physical body is eternal. Whereas the Enlightened One knowing that the physical body is filled with flesh, bones and blood is not attracted to it.
6) VILAASAALAAPA CHESHTAABHIHI CHITHRAALANKAARA BHOOSHANAIHI
HAAVA BHAAVA VINODAISHCHA NAAREEKARSHATHI POORUSHAM.
Meaning- A woman magnetizes man's heart by using delightful gestures, sweet talk, colorful attire and jewelry and different forms of entertainment.
7) SARVASHAASTHRA VIVEYKAADHYAHA BAHUDHAANUBHAVAANVITHAHA
THADHAAPI PURUSHO YAATHI NAAREEM DRUSHTVAA VIMOHITHAAM.
Meaning- Even a scholar who has mastered all the scriptures/religious treatises and one who is fully experienced in worldly matters is attracted by the appearance of a woman.
8) KAAMONAAMA KIRAATHOYAM YAMAADAPI BHAYANKARAHA
NASHTAASTHEYNA SUNAARYASHCHA YATHAYA SHCHAAPI VANCHITHAAHA.
Meaning- The hunter called 'lust' is more intimidating than Yama (the Lord of Death). Women who are highly principled and possess exemplary qualities are destroyed by this hunter ('lust'). Even sages who have renounced material world are deceived by this hunter.
9) BAALAAPI THARUNEECHAIVA SAA VRUDDHAA PYA BALAAPICHA
NAAREE BANDHAKAREE THYKTHAA SHAASTHRAANUBHAVA PANDITHAIHI.
Meaning- Great scholars and pundits opine that whether the female is a girl, a young woman, an old woman, or a weak woman- she only serves in creating a sense of material attachment in a man.
10) PRIYAA VIRAHADUKHEYNA DUSSAHEYNA SUCHAALITHAHA
KARTHAVYA SAMSMRUTHIM THYAKTHVAA DAINA BHAAVEYNA PEEDYATHEY.
Meaning- When man is steeped in misery due to the most unbearable pain of separation from his beloved he loses his sense of duty and is driven to despair.
11) CHAALA YANTHI MANSSDHAIRYAM PURUSHASYA STHRIYO DHRUVAM
HAROPIMOHINEEM DRUSHTVAA VYAAMOHAM PRAAPTHAVAANKILA.
Meaning- Women most certainly are capable of disturbing the man's strong mind. Parameshvara (Lord Shiva) Himself was magnetized by the appearance of Mohini.
12) VEDAANTHINOPI DAANTHASYA VIDUSHASHCHAAPI YOGINAHA
THARUNEE SAHAVAASEYNA GNYAANABUDDHI RVINASHYATHI.
Meaning- Whether it is a philosopher, or a sage who performs austerities, or a renowned scholar or a great yogi- their attachment to woman completely destroys them.
